Enter DuelTasks—the app that turns your daily tasks into high-stakes duels. Because who doesn’t want to turn their grocery shopping into a life-or-death competition, right?
The Idea Behind DuelTasks
It all started with a simple realization: people love winning, and they really hate losing. Based on prospect theory, which says losses sting more than gains bring joy, we thought, “What if not finishing your tasks actually cost you something?” Suddenly, your unfinished laundry becomes a serious financial decision.
Building the App
Of course, turning this wild idea into a polished product required some technical magic. We combined Ruby on Rails (7.2) for the backend with Stripe integration to make sure those “losses” are felt (monetarily speaking).
Why It Works (And Why It’s Fun)
The real beauty of DuelTasks lies in its simplicity—make a to-do list, invite your friends, and whoever doesn’t finish has to pay up. Simple, right? It’s almost like we’ve turned productivity into a reality show, but without the camera crews (for now).
